Market Tour and Southeast Asian Feast

Wednesday 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All Day June 28

Join Lauren for this new offering.  We will begin the day navigating through the colorful and often intimidating aisles of the Asian market in Burlington and then return to CVUHS to prepare a delectable Southeast Asian meal.  Fill your pantry with exotic imported sauces and dry goods so you can try out your newly acquired recipes at home.  Touch, smell, and learn about the unusual vegetables and other ingredients necessary to make authentic Asian meals, while Lauren weaves stories of her travels around the delicacies.  Meet at CVUHS at 8:30 a.m. sharp to carpool or meet directly at Thai Phat Market on North Street in Burlington.  Menu: Fresh Rice Paper Roll with Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce, Coconut Cashew Sambal, Spicy Fish in Banana Leaf, Prawns on Lemongrass Spears, and Gado-gado (Indonesian Salad with Peanut Sauce).

Technology Integration for Teachers

Monday–Friday  1 week 8 a.m.-3 p.m.  5 days     Starts June 26

Learn how to use a variety of MS Office tools for the classroom setting.  Every day instructors will showcase successful applications of word processors, spreadsheets, visual organizers, audio/video editors, and presentation software.  Educators of all levels and abilities will be able to create their own inquiry based projects that integrate grade-level standards with any content.  Become a more efficient and effective teacher whether you have computers in the classroom, in a lab, or just want to manage assessment and communication procedures from home.  Everyone will be able to use CVU’s new computers, network with local educators, and develop a support group for ongoing support and analysis.  Contact local administrators for salary/graduate credit options.  Certificates of Achievement are available for tuition reimbursements and teacher recertification credits.

Designed for beginners, this class is an introduction to black and white film developing and darkroom printing. Techniques, procedures and chemistry will be covered. Develop your own film and prints. Bring your own non-disposable camera. Extra darkroom lab time is available from 12-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Harry Potter's Club

Thursdays 2-3:15 p.m.  4 weeks  Starts July 13 

Potter fans unite!  No need to secretly practice magical incantations or silently pretend your kitchen broomstick is actually a Nimbus Two Thousand anymore.  This club will discuss plot and storyline, characters, writing style, and predictions for Book 7.   Having read all six books is recommended; the Harry Potter club can't be held responsible for spoiling what you haven't read!  Fans and readers of all ages are invited to attend a unique group that views the Potter series as a legitimate collection of modern literature.
