| PUBLISHER POTPOURRI |
| -1- Go to My Documents and view the different Publisher documents in the Publisher Sampler folders |
| -2- List ways to can use similar applications for your business or home projects. |
| -3- Discuss amongst yourselves. You have a lot to learn from other's experiences or expectations |
|
|
| CAUGHT IN A WEB |
| -1- Any project you create in Publisher may be converted to a website by utilizing the File menu. |
| -2- Create a template website to observe the procedures and structures of a website (hyperlinks, navigation bars, etc.). |
| -3- When you Save the document it will create a publisher file (*.pub) that is the version you will be able to edit later. When you Publish to the Web, the program will prompt you to connect to an existing server or write *.htm files to an existing folder. View the contents of the folder after you Publish. Notice that there is an index.htm and a index_files folder. |
| FLOWING UPSTREAM |
| -1- Flowcharts seem like simple creations on the surface (text, boxes, lines, arrows) but require careful planning to create a manageable product. |
| -2- Draw a draft of your flowchart by hand before you begin on Publisher. Identify the "skeleton" of your flowchart and create that first in Publisher. Then use the Arrange menu (Order, Group, etc.) to build other objects on top of the skeleton. Oftentimes, a table is a nice alternative to a series of mouse-drawn lines. |

|
| FROM START TO FINISH | |||
| -1- Use the remaining time to create a final draft document. Oftentimes, there are obstacles in the design process that don't seem obvious until you work on a particular project for the first time. | |||
| -2- Use the menu and mouse commands from class to increase your efficiency. Also try out some keyboard shortcuts. It's like broccoli: you won't know if you like it until you try it! | |||
